US fabricator Broadwind revenue fell 15% in the second quarter of 2021, compared with the same period last year, impacted by lower tower sales.
Revenue dropped to $46.5m from just under $55.0m in 2020.
However, the company made a profit of over $10m in the three months to 30 June, compared with profit of around $500,000 in the same period last year.
Sales fell in the heavy fabrications segment by $7.8m to $35.8m in the second quarter.
The company said the decrease was primarily due to a 6% decline in tower sections sold, a lower average selling price due to the mix of towers produced and decreased industrial fabrication sales.
The decline in tower section sales was attributable to lower demand, primarily a result of a shift in the timing of customer projects.
Gearing segment sales increased by $0.5m to $7.4m in the second quarter of 2021, when compared to the year-ago period, primarily due to increased demand from energy customers.
Overall revenue for the first six months of the year stood at $79.22m down from $103.56m.
Net income for the half year was almost $9.12m, up from over $1.56m.
