German energy transition bank Nord/LB is funding a 55MW solar farm in north Yorkshire.
The Scruton plant, being developed by Ampyr Solar Europe, will be financed under a £200m framework project finance facility and will generate power for thousands of homes.
Scruton is the second Ampyr project to be financed under the facility, which is also funding the construction of the Northwold Solar PV asset in Norfolk.
The Yorkshire site will consist of 88,704 new ground-mounted solar panels, providing clean energy for approximately 19,400 medium-sized households.
The fund will cover the construction phase, which is expected to start in July this year. The solar farm is due to enter operation in 2026.
The second phase of the project will focus on adding a BESS component to the site.
Scruton will benefit from a 15-year CfD scheme with the National Grid to help secure the project’s long-term future.
Head of energy origination Europe at NORD/LB Niels Jakeman said: “This deal demonstrates our deep commitment to advancing the renewable energy transition in the UK and Europe more broadly.
“The Scruton solar farm will help to increase the UK’s solar capacity significantly, and we’re thrilled to continue supporting Ampyr Solar Europe on its mission to accelerate the rollout of solar power across Europe.”
