Nordex has reported a consolidated net loss of €150m in the first quarter of 2022, compared with a consolidated net loss of €55m in the same period in 2021.
Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, profitability was impacted by higher raw material and logistics costs, Nordex said.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) in the first quarter of this year, including costs of €36.9m for reconfiguration of production, were minus €88.9m, compared with €10.4m in the first quarter of 2021.
Adjusted for these one-off costs, EBITDA was minus €52.0m and the adjusted EBITDA margin was -5.6%, compared with 0.8% in the first quarter of last year.
Nordex generated sales of €933m in the first quarter of 2022, compared with €1251m in the same period in 2021.
The trend in sales is attributable to a planned change in production to different blades and weather-related lower installation output, said Nordex.
Nordex installed 197 wind turbines in 12 countries with an aggregate output of 867MW in the first quarter of 2022.
In the prior-year quarter, 381 wind turbines with an aggregate output of 1453MW were installed in 19 countries.
As a result of lower installation figures, sales in the projects segment declined by 28.4% to €819.8m in the reporting period, compared with €1145.7m in the first quarter of 2021.
In contrast, the service segment continued its positive trend with an increase in sales of 7.1% to €115.7m in the reporting period.
