US renewables developer Pattern Energy has confirmed it has drawn interest from potential suitors, following media reports of a potential takeover bid.
The company said it is responding to the enquiry.
“No agreement or arrangement for any transaction has been reached with any such third parties. A transaction may or may not be agreed as a result of any such inquiries or discussions,” added a spokesman.
Pattern was responding to a request by the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada asked for Pattern to comment on media reports that claimed potential takeover suitors were interested in the company.
An earlier report by Bloomberg referenced an unidentified source that claimed Brookfield Asset Management has shown interest in merging Pattern Energy with Terraform Power, in which Brookfield have a 65% share of.
Pattern Energy has a portfolio of 26 renewable energy projects with an operating capacity of approximately 4 GW in the United States, Canada and Japan.
