Good wind conditions and higher power prices helped increase EDF Renewables sales in the first quarter of 2019 to €417m from €379m in the same period last year.
The improved showing came despite output being 0.1 terrawatt-hour lower than in 2018 at 4TWh.
EDF said this was because of “disposals” made at the end of 2018 and start of 2019, therefore, total installed capacity at the end of March this year was “broadly stable” at 8.3GW.
A total of 3.5GW of new clean power projects were under construction at the end of March, including 1.4GW of solar power.
Sales in group renewables, which includes EDF Renewables, as well as French hydro, EDF Luminus and Edison, stood at €1252m, down 4% on the €1307m posted last year.
EDF said the drop was mainly down to lower hydro generation in France, partially offset by positive price effects from commissioned wind power.
Output for group renewables was down to 15.7TWh, of which 9.9TWh was made up of French hydro.
Overall, EDF’s sales were up 2.5% to €20.966bn from €20.446bn last year.
