TenneT has said it is exploring the potential sale of its German activities to the German state.
It added that its sole shareholder, the Dutch government, has not yet taken a final decision on the potential deal, and TenneT will take the next steps in close collaboration with the government.
The company will focus in the upcoming discussions on ensuring security of supply, and the interests of its employees, customers, suppliers, financiers and other stakeholders.
TenneT operates the Dutch high voltage grid as well as part of the German high voltage grid. However, both countries’ governments prefer to fund, control and own their national electricity grid.
With the company’s equity needs rising, the transaction would help deliver the company’s energy transition targets and create two national players to cooperate in driving the energy transition.
