Swedish energy company Vattenfall has issued a €500m green bond, its first such issuance, with the proceeds earmarked for a number of projects, including renewables.
The bond, which has a tenor of seven years, is also the first international issuance under an EMTN programme under Swedish law listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, Vattenfall said.
As well as renewables, the proceeds will also go to energy efficiency, electrification of transport and heat and industrial projects.
The projects are defined in Vattenfall’s green bond framework, which has been reviewed by Cicero and given the latter’s highest rating – ‘Dark Green’ – the company said.
Citi, Deutsche Bank, Nordea and SEB acted as joint bookrunners on the bond issue.
Vattenfall chief financial officer Anna Borg said: “We have seen very strong interest in our first green bond, among European investors.
“I am happy that so many investors have chosen to participate in our bond offer, and chosen to contribute to our vision of a fossil-free life within one generation.”
The settlement date is 24 June.
