Barry Gardiner has been appointed as shadow energy and climate change secretary following the resignation of Lisa Nandy.
The Brent North MP will line up on the Labour front bench after being promoted from his previous role of shadow climate change minister.
Gardiner served as former Labour leader Ed Miliband’s special envoy for environment and climate change between 2011 and 2013.
Labour has yet to announce who will succeed Gardiner as shadow climate change minister.
Wigan MP Lisa Nandy resigned in protest at Labour helmsman Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.
