The German Ministry of Economics has postponed drafting amendments to the country’s renewable energy act until after the summer, according the Federal Association for Renewable Energy (BEE).
BEE president Simone Peter (pictured) criticised the decision, saying that the current framework is not adequate to meet the challenges of the energy transition in good time to meet the country’s 65% renewable energy goal.
“It cannot be that key decisions on the future of energy supply are constantly postponed,” she said.
“The German government is risking jobs with its inactivity, giving away innovation potential and weakening the competitiveness of Germany as a business location with a view to the urgently needed decarbonisation of industry,” Peter added.
Meanwhile, the German Federal network agency BNetzA has launched a market consultation on the regulation of hydrogen networks.
It considers the current regulatory framework for hydrogen networks and, based on possible development paths, analyses whether hydrogen networks should be further regulated in the future.
The consultation is open until 4 Septmber.
