Global Energy Group has rebranded as Global and broken ground on a new 2000m2 headquarters in Inverness as it sets out to expand turnover from £300m to £500m within three years.
The rebrand covers Global Port Services, Global Crane Services, Global Wind Projects, Global Infrastructure and Global Power Services, the latter previously known as Approved Power Services.
Portfolio companies including Apollo, Aventus Energy, Bracewell, Capstone Construction and Cammach will retain their current identities.
The overhaul comes as the group marks its 20th anniversary and follows the sale of the Port of Nigg and fabrication and scaffold operations, which Global said firmly repositions the business as an energy and infrastructure partner.
Chairman Roy MacGregor said: “We are really excited to share our new brand and vision which sets our course for the next five years. With a new, future-focused brand and a hybrid investor/operator model, with a people- and technology-led solutions provision, we are confident we will nearly double our turnover within three years.”
He added: “Following the recent high-profile sale of the Port of Nigg, the group is energised by the opportunity that lies ahead. There’s huge potential for growth within the energy and utilities sector and we have exciting new plans for the group to grow it significantly both organically and through acquisitions as we explore new markets.”
Global employs about 2000 people across its services portfolio and its investments, which were previously housed under GEG Capital.
The group said the hybrid model will allow it to build synergies between consultancy, construction and recruitment operations while delivering services to the energy and infrastructure sectors.
The new headquarters at Inverness Campus Freeport zone will accommodate up to 50 additional staff and bring together businesses including Global Infrastructure, Global Power Services, Arthian, Bracewell and recruitment units Global Highland, Chance Recruitment and Be Personnel.
The facility has been designed by architect David Lawrie of Bracewell and will be built by group company Capstone Construction, with completion expected by autumn 2026.
MacGregor said: “The move to our new, purpose-built office will support the group’s ambitious growth strategy. I think the level of investment in our new HQ sends a strong message to the market that through enhanced collaboration, acquisition and maximising of synergies across our portfolio, we will continue to unlock new opportunities within the green energy and utilities sectors.”
The chairman added that the investment follows the acquisition of eight companies in the past 18 months.
