Clean Line Energy is to supply the city of Tallahassee in Florida with up to 50MW of wind power from the Oklahoma panhandle region.
The electricity will be delivered by the $2bn Plains &Eastern Clean Line, which is expected to start construction in 2017 and deliver electricity from 2019.
The line will transmit renewable energy to the mid-south and south-east USA from the Oklahoma panhandle region.
Clean Line president Michael Skelly said: “This is another important step for the Plains & Eastern Clean Line and we look forward to helping Tallahassee to deliver on their commitment to increase their clean energy usage.”
