DNV GL has released guidelines for the implementation of energy storage systems.
The company said the Gridstor Recommended Practice is for use by all stakeholders, such as end users, manufacturers, investors or insurance companies.
DNV GL said the guidelines provide simple, clear and practice-based guidance on energy storage safety, performance and operation.
The recommended practice is aligned with on-going international standardisation activities, such as IEC, ISO and IEEE standards.
It has been developed in cooperation with seven other parties consisting of technology producers, grid service providers, energy consultants and universities.
“The new guidelines clearly define the life cycle phases of energy storage systems and corresponding activities as well as the scope of responsibilities for each player in the industry, allowing smoother processes, better relationships between those in the value chain and ensuring that all expectations are in sync with everyone involved,” DNV GL said.
DNV GL head of department renewables & storage Jillis Raadschelders said: “By bringing together the most important and relevant standards and guidelines and combining them into one document, DNV GL and its consortium has managed to fill a gap in the industry to help our customers and partners maximise their possibilities, exceed their expectations and reach their regional goals for energy storage.”
