Eon’s German networks were home to 32GW of renewable capacity at the end of 2015, more than one-third of the country’s installed renewables.
In total, Germany has 96GW of installed renewables capacity, 34% of which is connected to Eon’s networks.
The company said the renewable energy source varies by region.
At Eon’s three network operators in northern Germany – Avacon, E.DIS and Schleswig-Holstein Netz – wind power predominates made up of a relatively small number of larger-capacity renewable-energy facilities.
In the south, a much larger number of smaller-capacity solar arrays are installed on the networks of Bayernwerk, Eon said.
Eon Deutschland managing director Thomas König said: “Renewables account for more than 80% of the electricity that flows through our networks, well above the national average.
“Each year we invest more than €1bn to expand our networks in Germany.”
