A foundation stone was put down today for the Folkestone converter station for the 1GW ElecLink interconnector between the UK and France.
The €580m project will generate approximately 300 new jobs during the construction phase together, ElecLink said.
A consortium of Balfour Beatty and Prysmian will fabricate and install cables on the UK side, while RTE will install cables on the French side.
Siemens will construct the converter stations in both UK and France.
