NESO is extending the evidence submission window for Gate 2 grid connection applications by an additional week.
The GB system operator has confirmed it will issue the 10-day notice for the closure of registrations no earlier than 11 August.
It had previously stated the notice period would not be issued prior to today (4 August).
The process for submitting projects for eligibility in NESO’s connections reform programme has already been running behind the clock as a result of technical issues experienced by customers while using the online portal.
A three-week window was originally intended for supplying evidence supporting a project’s eligibility for priority status in the queue overhaul, running between 8 and 29 July.
NESO director of engineering and customer solutions transformation Matt Magill said “real progress” is being made to rectify the technical issues, with 779 out of 1800 projects having now completed the submission process.
“We have heard clearly from customers and trade associations that they can see the improvements being made,” he said.
“They would also welcome more time for changes to bed in and confidence to build before we issue the 10 working days’ notice. That is why we are confirming today that notice will not be given any earlier than Monday 11 August.
“We trust this provides clarity and avoids the uncertainty of a day-by-day approach. We deeply appreciate the constructive feedback and support from across the industry.
“It is helping us shape a better process and ensure that no one is left behind.”
