Oceanteam Solutions has won a long-term contract to supply an unnamed offshore transmission owner (OFTO) with cable storage at its Velsen Noord facility in the Netherlands.
The deal includes the provision of port facilities and loadouts, as well as cable storage, such as static tanks, turntables, baskets and reels, Oceanteam said.
It added that transpooling of the cable will be carried out by the company’s handling crew at the end of the month.
The cable will then be transferred to a 120-tonne liftable cable basket, designed and engineered by Oceanteam, for storage up to 20 years.
The storage facility is located behind the North Sea locks at IJmuiden close to Amsterdam.
