SSE Networks’ Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission is to hold a second set of consultation events to seek views on plans for transmission reinforcement in North Argyll that will provide additional capacity for renewables projects.
The proposals to improve the existing overhead lines, which were constructed in the 1950s and 1960s, include building a new 275/132kV North Argyll substation in close proximity to the existing line, south of Cladich.
A 275kV overhead line is planned between the proposed North Argyll substation and the existing Dalmally substation, while the existing line would be also upgraded, either by replacing wires or building a new overhead link.
The first consultation was in March and the second set of events will seek views on the preferred route and substation site options, before more detailed design work and environmental studies get under way, the company said.
The drop-in events will be held between 2pm to 7:30pm on Monday 24 October at Taynuilt Village Hall; Tuesday 25 October at Kilchrenan Village Hall; Wednesday 26 October at Portsonachan Village Hall; and Thursday 27 October at Dalmally Community Centre.
SSE Networks project manager Jean Lewis said: “We aim to engage openly throughout the development process so that our team’s further work and, ultimately, our final proposals can be informed be local communities and a wide range of other stakeholders.”
