Heerema Fabrication Group is to close its Zwijndrecht yard in the Netherlands, after Italian outfit Rosetti Marino called off plans to buy facility.
Rosetti Marino said that after “careful consideration of the risks and opportunities, (it) has concluded that this acquisition did not meet its requirements due to adverse market conditions and the uncertainty for future prospects for the Zwijndrecht yard”.
Rosetti Marino chief executive Oscar Guerra: “Rosetti Marino regrets that our interest in the proposed sale could not happen due to external factors beyond our control.”
Heerema Fabrication Group said it has informed staff at Zwijndrecht about the intended yard closure and will request advice from works council of HFG Nederland.
The company added that it is committed to support the 80 employees who are being made redundant as a result of the closure.
Heerema Fabrication Group chief executive Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven said: “We will continue to provide every support we can offer in this very difficult period.”
Heerema Fabrication Group will continue construction operations at its locations in Vlissingen and Opole in Poland.
