Enel Green Power has won a 30-year concession for two operating hydro power plants with a total installed capacity of 40MW in Brazil.
The 32MW Paranapanema plant in São Paulo and the 8MW Mourão I Parana state will sell 70% of the energy generated to a pool of distribution companies and the other 30% on the free market.
The decision was made following a public tender yesterday and together the two hydro plants can generate about 270GWh annually.
EGP is investing around $40m USD on the concession and will run the plants for the next 30 years and adds to its existing hydro capacity of 93MW in Brazil.
