FFP New Hydro has received from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission licences for four hydro projects totalling 33MW on the Yazoo River Basin in Mississippi.
The projects will be built at existing flood control facilities – the Arkabutla, Enid, Sardis and Grenada dams – owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers.
FFP said the licenses represent more than four years of investment and effort.
Construction is expected to start in 2017 and the projects will come online in 2018.
FFP New Hydro chief executive officer Ramya Swaminathan said: “The development of the Yazoo River basin hydropower projects will represent an investment of more than $80 million in the state of Mississippi, creating hundreds of jobs during construction, operations and maintenance.”
