Hydro-Québec has submitted two proposals to partner with New York on clean energy projects.
One proposal would seek to optimise existing infrastructure to supply an additional 700 gigawatt hours of hydro power to New York.
The second would entail building new or expanded transmission infrastructure to deliver between 5.8 and 8.3 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity a year to the US state.
The submissions are in response to a request for proposals issued in June by the New York Power Authority for the procurement of 1TWh or more to support the state’s power infrastructure and renewables projects.
Hydro-Québec president and chief executive officer Éric Martel said: “As North America’s largest supplier of clean energy and a decades-long regional partner, we can offer the reliability, flexibility and strength of our hydropower system in developing solutions to meet New York’s clean energy goals.”
