Ireland’s renewable energy industry has called for faster electrification ahead of the Renewable Energy Expo Ireland 2026 in Dublin.
Wind Energy Ireland said the event, delivered with Solar Ireland and Energy Storage Ireland, marks the first joint platform bringing together wind, solar and storage sectors.
Solar Ireland added that the expo will gather businesses, investors and policymakers to accelerate deployment of homegrown renewable energy and reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels.
“Bringing together wind, solar and energy storage sectors at one event shows we are united in building an Irish electrostate,” said Noel Cunniffe, chief executive of Wind Energy Ireland (pictured).
“We need to scale up the generation and storage of clean electricity to bring down costs for businesses and families.”
“Ireland’s renewable sector is growing rapidly, with rising electricity demand requiring a shift from targets to delivery,” said Ronan Power, chief executive of Solar Ireland.
“This Expo plays an important role in bringing together developers, investors and policymakers to drive alignment and help accelerate projects on the ground.”
“Energy storage provides the flexibility needed to get gas off the grid and to maximise the benefits of wind and solar,” said Bobby Smith, director of Energy Storage Ireland.
“We will be calling on policymakers to ensure a dedicated route to market for long-duration energy storage and to prepare our economy for the phase out of expensive fossil fuels.”
The two-day event will take place at the RDS in Dublin on 21–22 October and is expected to attract domestic and international participants across the renewable energy supply chain.
