Construction work has started on the 25MW Energy Works energy-from-waste plant in Hull.
M+W Group is the main contractor responsible for engineering, procurement and construction.
Work began in early January on clearing and levelling the 12-acre site, followed by pre-cast driven piling and the perimeter wall demolition on two adjacent brownfield sites near Stoneferry.
Pile driving works were completed in February around the external footprint of the fuel handling building, while more recently, works have also commenced on the installation of sheet piles along the easement wall adjacent to the river.
The site accommodation is also complete and occupied.
Working with M+W Group are two main sub-contractors – Outotec, an international specialist in advanced gasification technology, and Spencer Group, a Hull-based engineering and construction business leading the civil engineering works for the new facility.
