Nexans’ flagship Aurora cable lay vessel has been delivered today following the completion of construction by Ulstein Verft.
Construction of the 149.9m long, 31m wide vessel took 36 months, and has been completed on time despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Aurora will play a vital role in Nexans’ turn key supply of advanced subsea high voltage systems, including providing vital connections between countries and regions, offshore renewable solutions as well as electrification solutions for other offshore installations.
Nexans’ project manager Frode Beyer said: “This is a memorable day for the project team and for Nexans and I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this project’s success.
“We are now looking forward to bringing the Nexans Aurora out into the world to contribute to Nexans’ purpose ‘Electrify the Future’, for a greener place to be.”
The vessel will be named in a ceremony in Ulsteinvik on 8 June, before sailing for its home port, Halden, and Nexans’s subsea high voltage cables competence centre.
