Caulmert appoints new planning director

Caulmert has appointed Stephen Ottewell (pictured) as director of planning, strengthening its planning division as part of a wider growth strategy across the UK.

Ottewell joins the engineering, environmental and planning consultancy after nearly 20 years with an international business process outsourcing and professional services firm, where he led teams across Manchester, North Tyneside, Belfast, Breckland in Norfolk, and Cape Town.

Most recently, he served as business development director for government and housing place services, covering planning, property, housing, building control and highways.

“The growth potential at Caulmert is one thing that caught the eye, and it will be great to be involved in developing the planning division,” he said. “What is evident is that there is plenty of opportunity to build on an impressive client base and drive the company forward.”

Ottewell, who holds an MBA in business administration and management, will be based at Caulmert’s Altrincham office.

“There’s a strong core of planners here and I can’t wait to work with them to help enhance the team in terms of numbers and the array of clients we have,” he added. “Being involved in projects at all stages and liaising with other divisions within Caulmert is something that really excites me.”

Caulmert managing director Mike Caulfield said: “We’ve been looking to deepen the talent pool within the division and Stephen’s arrival does just that. As a company, we have strong forward momentum with new opportunities and numerous repeat clients, and we are determined to build on that.”

Founded in 2008, Caulmert provides engineering, environmental, planning and project management services, applying Building Information Modelling to ISO 19650 standards across many of its projects.
