Coillte is to start the search for a new chief executive after current boss Fergal Leamy confirmed he will leave the role later this year.
The semi-state company, which develops wind projects across Ireland, will be led by current chief operations officer Gerry Britchfield on an interim basis from April.
Leamy (pictured) will remain with the company until June 2019 before taking up a position in the private sector, Coillte said.
A recruitment process will kick off in the “coming weeks”, the company said.
Acting chairperson Roisin Brennan said Coillte has “been transformed both operationally and financially” during Leamy’s four-year stint in the role.
“The business is now generating significant and sustainable operating cash flows, is more customer focussed and is increasing its return to the State as shareholder.”
Leamy said the company is in a “stronger position than ever to capitalise on the opportunities” in renewables.
“The transformation and growth of Coillte has been driven by the motivation, commitment and dedication of our people and I want to thank the team for their hard work and support,” he said.
