International consultancy RPS has appointed a country manager to oversee its South Korean office which was recently opened to target offshore wind opportunities in the region.
Sangmok Roh, based in the new office in Seoul, will have a key role in establishing RPS as a “key and trusted professional services firm in Asia”, said the company.
Roh will help to build a local team in Seoul, who will be supported by RPS’ technical specialists from around the world.
Roh said: “I have a great passion for delivering operational excellence and optimised, sustainable project outcomes – for our teams and our clients. RPS has a strong reputation in the European offshore wind market, I’m delighted to be working with such an exceptional team of people as we work together to support the growing demand for renewable energy supplies in Asia.
“I believe South Korea is a key focus area for RPS to expand our business into the emerging markets of Asia, and I am excited to play a key role in its success.”
RPS energy division chief executive John Tompson added: “South Korea’s ambitious Renewable Energy ‘3020′ Implementation Plan is encouraging rapid growth in this market.
“Sangmok’s appointment is great news for RPS – it supports our expansion into this region and allows us to continue delivering for our existing clients and local Korean developers, as we work with them to meet their development goals in offshore wind.”
