DP Energy expands into PtX

Irish renewables developer DP Energy is expanding its business into areas that include green hydrogen and power-to-x.

The company has promoted Jeffrey Godsell (pictured) to the role of Technical Manager of Power to X to lead its growth strategy related to clean renewable electricity conversion, storage and reconversion.

His focus will be on synthetic fuels, green hydrogen, green ammonia, e-methanol and e-kerosene as energy vectors for DP Energy’s portfolio of existing projects.

Headquartered in Buttevant in North Cork, DP Energy has over 30 years’ experience in the development, construction and operation of renewable energy assets globally.

The company has developed over 1GW of projects, the majority of which are already built and operational.

DP Energy has an immediate pipeline of 7GW of wind and solar energy projects across Ireland, the UK, Australia and Canada, with 750MW due to enter construction in 2023.

These projects variously incorporate both on- and off- shore wind, solar and ocean energy technologies.

Godsell joined DP Energy one year ago as a Principal Grid Engineer where he was involved in the development of a portfolio of renewable energy projects across Ireland, Canada and Australia.

He was involved in the preparation of grid connection applications, grid code compliance and on- and off- shore cabling systems.

Adam Cronin, Head of Offshore at DP Energy, said: “Myself and the DP Energy team are delighted to congratulate Jeffrey on his promotion from Principal Engineer to Technical Manager in the Power to X space.

“Along with his passion for the renewable energy sector, Jeffrey brings over two decades of experience as an engineer to this role, and his expertise is a significant asset to our mission to create a renewable energy powered world.

“We are very much looking forward to Jeffrey further utilising his skills and knowledge to bring this project and DP Energy to the next stage.”
