EnBW has hired Bill White as managing director of its North American operations to lead the German company’s offshore wind efforts in the US.
White was previously senior director of offshore wind development at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
His work at the Clean Energy Center included identifying offshore wind areas through collaborative stakeholder engagement, as well as transmission planning, environmental surveys, metocean data collection, supply chain and workforce development initiatives related to the sector.
EnBW head of portfolio development for offshore wind power generation Holger Grubel said: “For over a decade, Bill White has been among the most significant and impactful leaders in the advancement of offshore wind in the US.
“We are delighted that Bill is joining our EnBW team to lead our efforts in North America.”
White said: “I’m honoured to join EnBW’s talented team that built the first commercial offshore wind project in Germany and now has approximately 2GW of offshore wind projects constructed, under construction, or contracted.
“I’m inspired by EnBW’s leadership in addressing climate change by investing over $5bn by 2025 to advance renewable energy. And I’m impressed by EnBW’s commitment to work collaboratively with local communities and fishermen to bring clean and cost-effective energy to the US.”
EnBW announced earlier this week that it plans to open an office in Jersey City, New Jersey, by the end of the year as a base in the US.
