Greg Hands has been appointed Minister of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to oversee the energy and climate portfolio in Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s latest cabinet reshuffle.
Hands was previously Minister of State for Trade Policy in the Department for International Trade (DIT) and had been in the post since early 2020.
He replaces Anne-Marie Trevelyan, who has been appointed Secretary of State for International Trade.
Hands said on Twitter: “Trade was a great role, but so is minister of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
“Energy, clean growth and climate change – some of the biggest challenges and opportunities for the Government as we approach #COP26.”
Kwasi Kwarteng remains in his role as Secretary of State at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, which he was appointed to on 8 January 2021.
