Markus Tacke has stepped down as chief executive of Siemens Gamesa.
The German-Spanish manufacturer said the board of directors and Tacke (pictured, right) “mutually agreed” to “terminate his CEO contract” effective immediately. No reason was given for the decision.
Offshore boss Andreas Nauen is to take charge as the new company chief executive. A new leader for the offshore division will be confirmed in due course.
Miguel Angel Lopez, chairman of the Board of Directors, said Nauen will be expected to “stabilise” the onshore unit “quickly”.
“Andreas Nauen has successfully demonstrated his ability to handle complex projects in the past. He has extensive experience with listed companies in the renewables sector.”
He added: “We’d like to thank Markus Tacke for his work over the past three years and, in particular, for the integration of Siemens Wind Power and Gamesa in the course of the merger.”
In the same statement on Wednesday evening, Siemens Gamesa indicated it is on track for a full-year loss.
Management and project costs, as well as the financial impact of Covid-19, will lead to a negative EBIT in the third quarter.
An anticipated fourth quarter profit is not expected to offset the losses “for the full fiscal year”, the company added.
