Renewables consultancy Natural Power has appointed Matthew Filippelli as principal engineer and offshore services lead in North America.
Filippelli (pictured), who will be based in the company’s New York office in Saratoga Springs, was previously director of offshore services and principal engineer at UL Renewables (formerly known as AWS Truepower).
His experience includes: wind resource and energy yield assessments; meteorology and ocean monitoring, modelling and analysis; onshore and offshore wind turbine technology; instrumentation, data acquisition and communications; lidar, floating lidar and sodar remote sensing; data analysis, meso-scale and CFD flow modelling, Natural Power said.
Natural Power president in North America Jim Adams said: “The US has a vast offshore wind energy resource, and as this market continues to gather pace, it is important that we prioritise expanding our team and expertise to meet the needs of our clients and the market at large.
“The US energy sector has a rich skills base, with decades of experience in developing ocean energy infrastructure, and we are delighted to welcome Matt to the team to lead our business in this area.”
