OWGP appoints Clark MacFarlane as board director

The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership has appointed former Siemens Gamesa UK managing director Clark MacFarlane to its board as an independent director.

MacFarlane has been a prominent advocate for the UK offshore wind supply chain, helping shape the Offshore Wind Sector Deal, the creation of OWGP and the Industrial Growth Plan.

He spent 43 years at Siemens in senior leadership roles across power generation, defence, building technologies and IT solutions, including as CEO Europe/Middle East and UK managing director of wind businesses from 2012 to 2023.

MacFarlane also served as vice-chair of the Offshore Wind Industry Council, representing the supply chain, and as a board member of RenewableUK and the G+ safety organisation.

OWGP programme director Anil Sayhan said: “We are pleased to welcome Clark to the OWGP board. Clark has an extensive track record of leadership across multiple sectors. He is well known for his long-standing commitment to strengthening the offshore wind supply chain.”

Tim Pick, chair of OWGP and commissioner of the Clean Power 2030 Advisory Commission, said: “I am delighted to welcome Clark MacFarlane to our board. Clark needs no introduction to the sector, having been at the forefront of offshore wind supply chain development in the UK for many years.”

MacFarlane said: “I’m thrilled to join the OWGP board at such an important time for the industry. The UK has established itself as a global leader in offshore wind, but to maintain that position we must continue to invest in and grow our domestic supply chain.”

He added that OWGP plays a unique role in enabling businesses to expand, compete and deliver long-term value for the UK economy.

In June 2025 OWGP became delivery body for the Industrial Growth Plan, coordinating its execution and monitoring progress across the sector.
