US renewables and transmission asset owner Pattern Energy has appointed Matthew Rhodes as chief financial officer, effective 7 October.
He will report to chief executive Hunter Armistead.
Rhodes brings more than two decades of financial management and executive leadership to Pattern Energy, including experience in corporate development, acquisitions and operations in both regulated and market-based businesses, most recently as executive vice president, strategy and corporate development at Essential Utilities.
Previously, Rhodes served as managing director in Goldman Sachs’ natural resources investment banking group leading coverage for more than 25 electric and gas utility companies.
Rhodes has also held positions with Bank of America and Duke Capital Partners.
“We welcome Matt to Pattern’s executive leadership team, where he will play a pivotal role in achieving our financial goals,” said Armistead, adding: “Matt will enhance the company’s relationships with key financial institutions and his strong track record of enterprise scaling and financial discipline will be instrumental in realising Pattern’s vision to power the future.”

Pattern Energy is focused on growing and executing its pipeline of renewable energy and transmission projects in North America, including SunZia Wind and Transmission, a larg clean energy infrastructure project that will generate enough clean, reliable electricity to power more than three million American homes.
