SSE has brought in ex-Orsted and ACWA Power man Thomas Brostrøm to take up the role managing director for business development.
Brostrøm will join on 1 April 2026 from ACWA, bringing more than 15 years of international leadership experience across renewables, project development, investment and portfolio management, SSE said.
He was previously led Orsted North America business before moving to Shell.
SSE said Brostrøm will lead the development of international projects across SSE’s technologies through to FID with a focus on building and scaling businesses in both mature and emerging markets.
The company has meanwhile hired James Allen as chief procurement officer
Allen will also join on 1 April 2026 from GKN Aerospace where he currently serves as chief procurement officer, added the company.
SSE said he brings expertise in commercial strategy and multinational supply chain management, having transformed procurement functions across major asset-intensive organisations including Arriva and Babcock.
Allen will succeed Ronnie Fleming, who will retire in April 2027 after 16 years of service and will support a transition over the coming year.
The company said the appointments come as it delivers its £33bn Transformation for Growth plan to scale internationally, navigate complex supply chains and build infrastructure for a net-zero future.
