Australian offshore wind farm developer Star of the South has appointed Erin Coldham as its new chief development officer.
She will have responsibility for development activities on the up to 2GW project, which will be Australia’s first offshore wind farm.
The company said that Coldham has “extensive experience working with all levels of government and community on major, multi-billion-dollar infrastructure projects, bringing a unique understanding of the local regulatory and stakeholder environment”.
Star of the South chief executiveCasper Frost Thorhauge said: “Erin brings an unrivalled local knowledge of the many issues and important stakeholders at the core of developing and building major infrastructure projects in Australia.
“She will play a central role in leading the project and bringing offshore wind to Australia. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Erin.”
Coldham said: “This is a huge turning point for Australia – new jobs, industry development and a reliable source of power to secure our electricity grid.
“I’m proud to be part of the team progressing this important project for Gippsland, Victoria and Australia.”
A wind measurement campaign for the project kicked off in November last year, with two floating lidar devices deployed to collect data for several years.
The wind farm is slated to be operational by 2027.
