Wood Thilsted appoints US chief

Wood Thilsted has appointed Zach Finucane (pictured) as head of USA following the retirement of Matt Palmer.

In this strategic role, Finucane will spearhead Wood Thilsted’s operations in the United States, leveraging his expertise to drive growth and innovation in the dynamic American offshore wind market.

He has a career spanning almost 15 years in the offshore wind sector, most recently at Orsted.

Wood Thilsted said he is one of the most experienced professional engineers in offshore wind within the USA having delivered the Block Island Wind Farm and the Coastal Virginia Demonstration and leading the US foundations team for Orsted’s portfolio of US Projects.

As the Head of USA, Finucane will be instrumental in delivering and overseeing the diverse and significant portfolio of projects Wood Thilsted is currently engaged with across the United States.

These extend from early-phase project development and site investigation planning, to concept, FEED and detailed engineering, showcasing our comprehensive involvement and dedication at every stage of project development.

His leadership will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s commitment to delivering sustainable and cutting-edge solutions that contribute to the growth of clean energy in the United States, the consultants said.

Finucane said: “I couldn’t be more excited to lead Wood Thilsted’s efforts in the United States, at a pivotal moment for a market with so much potential.

“Wood Thilsted’s reputation for engineering excellence and commitment to sustainability positions them perfectly to support the goals of the US renewable energy sector.

“I can’t wait to get to know the talented team at Wood Thilsted, both in Boston and in Europe, and contribute to the success of our projects in the region.”

Wood Thilsted’s chief executive, Alastair Muir Wood, added: “Zach Finucane’s appointment as Head of USA reflects our dedication to building a strong leadership team and our commitment to the US market.

“With his proven track record and deep understanding of the offshore wind industry, we are confident that Zach will play a pivotal role in driving our success in the United States.

“We look forward to the positive impact of his leadership on our operations and the continued growth of Wood Thilsted in the region.”
