German offshore installation outfit SAL Heavy Lift will remain active in the offshore wind sector despite shutting down its Netherlands office in Delft.
The company blamed “challenging times” in the offshore market for the closure, but said it would continue to offer offshore installation services with its DP2 vessel MV Lone.
Other vessels from the fleet may also be used “based on scope and opportunity,” the company said.
Future offshore work will now be coordinated from the company’s Hamburg office.
SAL Heavy Lift recently transported 87 transition pieces and 87 monopiles foundations to Belfast Harbour for Dong Energy’s 659MW Walney 3 project in the Irish Sea.
