The Scottish government is to set up an interim body to control the assets of the UK Crown Estate north of the border.
Holyrood kicked off consultation today on the management arrangements, described as “necessary to ensure a smooth transition and continuity to Crown Estate staff, tenants and other customers”.
The body will largely be drawn along the existing lines of the seabed landlord and will exercise control over offshore wind, wave and tidal projects in Scottish waters.
Edinburgh will seek the views of stakeholders later this year on longer-term management plans.
Cabinet Secretary Roseanna Cunningham said: “Today marks for formal start of the devolution of one of the key elements in the Scotland Act 2016.
She added: “This consultation is the first opportunity to help shape the devolved management of the Crown Estate in Scotland.”
Consultation runs through 26 August and the full consultation document can be found here.
