Shell has denied media speculation linking it to a potential takeover bid for rival energy giant BP.
The company said it has not been actively considering an offer and confirmed that no approach has been made and no discussions have taken place.

“In response to recent media speculation Shell wishes to clarify that it has not been actively considering making an offer for BP and confirms it has not made an approach to, and no talks have taken place with, BP with regards to a possible offer,” Shell said in a statement.
The clarification follows reports suggesting Shell was exploring a move for its FTSE 100-listed peer.
