Siemens Gamesa is to offer new apprenticeships in Lincolnshire in England after signing an agreement to offer training via North Lindsey College.
The college beat off competition from education centres across the UK to land the apprenticeship deal and will now develop a customised training programme for the manufacturer.
“In a dynamic industry, where innovation and technology can transform the sector in less time than it takes to complete an apprenticeship, it is crucial to work with organisations that can be just as agile and forward-thinking,” Siemens Gamesa head of operations support Carl Robb said.
The programme will train people to work as O&M technicians and the turbine manufacturer has donated a nacelle to the college for training new technicians.
“Working with Siemens Gamesa will help the college inspire the next generation of engineers across the region,” North Lindsey’s Principal, Mick Lochran, said.
