Taihan Cable Vina has begun construction of a 400kV-class extra-high-voltage cable plant in Dong Nai Province in southern Vietnam.
Parent company Taihan Cable & Solution said the facility will be built on a 56,200 square metre site in the Long Thanh Industrial Zone where Taihan Cable Vina’s existing factory is located.
The company added that the plant will be its first overseas extra-high-voltage cable production base and is scheduled to begin operations in 2027.
Taihan noted that the facility will expand EHV cable production capacity and support supply to Southeast Asia as well as markets in Europe, the Americas and Oceania.
The company stated that once completed Taihan Cable Vina will become the only manufacturer in Vietnam capable of producing 400kV-class EHV cables.
Taihan Cable Vina held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project at its Dong Nai facility on 11 March attended by about 150 participants including government officials and company executives.
“Over the past 20 years, Taihan Cable Vina has served as a key production base driving Taihan Cable’s overseas business growth, built on its accumulated manufacturing experience and strong quality competitiveness,” said Kim Joon-seok, executive vice president and head of management at Taihan Cable.
“With the construction of this new plant, we aim to contribute to the advancement of Vietnam’s power grid while playing a leading role in the global energy infrastructure market.”
