Energy Minister Andrea Leadsom said the UK government is taking its time over policy changes for renewables because it “does not want to jump to conclusions.”
Andrea Leadsom appeared in front of the Energy and Climate Change today and said “it could not be further from the truth” that renewables is taking a back seat for DECC in this Parliament.
She said it is “only fair” that solar and onshore has been looked at under cost-cutting measure.
“This is about bills for the consumers, that has to be our priority. Also the fact that potentially that one is taking more than its fair share – that has to be something worth taking into account,” she said.
She added that “no decisions are set in stone” with consultation periods still open on how the proposals should work.
“Until we have concrete information from the consultations we do not want to jump to conclusions. There are policy levers other than subsidies to create energy security for the UK.”
