Five UK renewables projects, including the 336MW second phase of the Beatrice offshore wind farm off Scotland, have met operational milestones under the terms of the Contracts for Difference awarded to them.
The other four projects are onshore wind farms – one in Wales and three in Scotland.
They are Innogy’s 33.6MW Mynydd Y Gwair project in Wales and 26.6MW Bad a Cheo facility in North Scotland, Banks Renewables’ 88.4MW Kype Muir plant in South Lanarkshire and Achlachan’s wind farm near Inverness.
All the generators have started to receive payments under the terms of the CfDs, the Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) said.
Payments started on 20 March to Mynydd Y Gwair, 28 March to Kype Muir, 31 March to Bad a Cheo, 8 April to Achlachan and 28 April to Beatrice.
LCCC is the designated CfD for contracts awarded to generators under the government’s CfD scheme.
LCCC chief executive Neil McDermott said “I am delighted that these generators have passed their OCPs in line with the CfD requirements, together providing an additional 494.6MW of operational low carbon capacity for GB consumers.
“I look forward to further CfD projects coming through in the next few months.”
