Vattenfall chief financial officer Stefan Dohler is leaving the Swedish company to become chief executive at German regional utility EWE.
Dohler (pictured) joined Vattenfall in 1998 and has been CFO since 2016.
He will continue in his current position for the time being in order to “safeguard a smooth transition of all areas within the CFO responsibility”, Vattenfall said.
The company said it has already started the recruitment process to find a successor.
The top EWE management post has been vacant since the utility sacked Matthias Brückmann in February.
Dohler said: “It is with mixed feelings that I have decided to leave Vattenfall after almost 20 years. Vattenfall has formed my professional life and offered me tremendous opportunities to develop.”
Vattenfall chief executive Magnus Hall said: “We are very grateful for Stefan’s excellent contributions to the development of Vattenfall and wish him every success in his new position.”
