Vinci’s Spanish business has joined the Hydrogen Valley of Catalonia as a new member.
The group said that through its business unit for the design and construction of renewable hydrogen production and supply facilities, the membership is an “opportunity to advance carbon neutrality objectives, face global challenges such as uncertainty in the energy market or inflation in energy prices, and promote a strategic initiative at the country level, turning Spain into a European and world benchmark”.
Alejandro García, Director of Hydrogen and Ports at Vinci Energies Spain, said joining the Hydrogen Valley of Catalonia is the next step in its strategy in joining the renewable hydrogen economy.
Including Vinci Energies Spain, the Hydrogen Valley of Catalonia has more than 230 public and private organisations, bringing together 162 companies, 42 public entities, 12 knowledge and research centres and 21 associations and clusters.
“Having a company like Vinci Energies Spain allows our Valley to continue growing and adding complicities, as well as increasing opportunities to share knowledge and experiences,” said Jordi Cartanyà, coordinator of the Hydrogen Valley of Catalonia.
The initiative aims to consolidate an ecosystem around the hydrogen value chain in Catalonia.
The region has a strong position to lead this objective by forming the most important petrochemical hub in the south of Europe, with a high concentration of energy consumption and production, while also being a geostrategic point for the location of transport, import and export infrastructures.
