Canadian offshore engineers Allswater has unveiled its next-generation tidal stream platform named XTidal Instream Platform.
The third-generation platform with a capacity of up to 450kW is a modular platform designed for remote and community tidal sites.
The platform uses a SWATH-style hull design to minimize wave induced motions and increase stability.
The Halifax, Nova Scotia company said XTidal Instream Platform is designed for a single point mooring system for use with mono-directional turbines or a four point mooring system for use with bi-directional turbines.
