Basque wave developer Oceantec is to install its Marmok A-5 device next month at the Biscay Marine Energy Platform off the northern coast of Spain.
The 30kW prototype oscillating water column featuring two Wells turbines will start generating power in September.
Oceantec director Jose Luis Aguiriano said the device’s mooring, conventional tether and umbilical cable have been installed at Bimep.
UK subsea outfit SEA previously installed the device’s 13.2kV export cable.
The development is part of the European Union-funded Project OPERA (Open Sea Wave Operating Experience to Reduce Energy Cost), led by Basque energy agency EVE.
