Danish marine energy developer Floating Power Plant has teamed up with engineering outfit Ocean Power & Energy Services.
The companies have entered into a design, engineering and technology development agreement as FPP gears up for three potential commercial arrays across Europe.
“The partnership gives FPP the opportunity to draw on OPES’s market leading knowledge within design of safe, stable, and cost efficient floating marine structures and mooring systems from the oil & gas industry,” said the Danes.
FPP has been grid testing its combined wind and wave power solution off Denmark for a number of years.
“The partnership will bring significant value to FPP’s technology design and value proposition of low cost of energy and easy accessibility for operation and maintenance activities,” said chief executive Anders Køhler.
OPES, an affiliate of Norwegian company Cefront Technology, said: “We have chosen to enter into this agreement as a continued expansion into the offshore renewable market with the leading hybrid technology.
“We see an increasing demand for know-how and competencies related to advanced mooring and floater structures to support cost efficient renewable field developments.”
