Perpetuus Energy is to partner with tidal turbine fabricators Schottel Hydro and Tocardo to build up to 30MW at its consented site off the Isle of Wight.
Schottel has secured a 10MW share of the Perpetuus Tidal Energy Centre off St Catherine’s Point, with Tocardo of the Netherlands taking the remaining 20MW.
The partnerships were first reported in last week’s subscription-only reNEWS.
Schottel director Niels Lange said the German manufacturer will deploy its 2.5MW seabed-mounted Triton device featuring up to 40 SIT tidal turbines through its UK subsidiary TidalStream.
“It is a privilege to be part of the largest consented tidal stream energy project in England and Wales,” he added.
“We are constantly seeking ways to advance our technology and ensure it is fully commercialised for worldwide production and PTEC is the perfect opportunity for us to achieve this.”
Tocardo chief executive Hans van Breugel said it would install tidal turbines attached to its Universal Foundation System.
“Engaging with PTEC is a significant step in the commercialisation process of our standard offshore tidal solution, the UFS,” he added.
